As an artist, my primary goal is to see, and to keep seeing, what is here, the world in its constantly refracting visual realities. I hope to show the viewer what I’ve seen in such a way that they can see it, too – experience, confront, feel and
remember – and allow it to change the way they see.

I use a variety of media, my choice each time dictated by the demands of the subject as much as by my own inclinations and skills. In my work, I strive each time for transformation: of image into material into vision into emotion, each level a contribution to the process of the whole. That my own incremental transformation is indelibly a part of this process is one of the rewards of making art.

My fine art has been exhibited in a variety of galleries in the Midwest,Canada, and the United Kingdom. The State of Michigan's Art in Public Places program purchased eleven of my photographs for permanent installation in the
state capital.

My illustration and design has been used for award-winning books ranging from mysteries and science fiction, to books based on the X-Files TV series, to Newbery Award-winning books for children. My clients include Orion Magazine, Natural History Magazine, Daimler Chrysler, Bloomsbury Books, Random House, Farrar, Straus & Giroux, HarperCollins, Penguin Books, Simon & Shuster, Focal Press.
