Keith Gothard is a self-taught artist that has been painting for over 36 years. His fascination with painting started when he was given a correspondance course in painting as a gift on his fifteenth birthday. This fascination steadily grew into an obsession and nowadays its very rare to see Keith without a paintbrush in his hand.

Keith taught himself to paint using oils and acrylics and it was not till 1987 that he discovered the joys and challenges that the medium of watercolour presents the artist. This late introduction to watercolour directly contributed to his recognizable style and bold use of colour.

Keiths first love is landscape painting but he has also gained recognition for his portrait work especially his portraits of well known tournament snooker players and several of these now hang in the homes of the players themselves. A Note From Keith

I will paint anything as I am happiest just having a paintbrush in my hand but landscape has always been my true passion and I am always fascinated by the way the light constantly changes the scenery around us. The same scene can be painted several times in different weather conditions and each painting will provide a completely different impression of the landscape in question.
Slightly controversial but my inspiration to paint came from Van Gogh but not in the way people may think. I actually seen his work and originally thought "If he can sell paintings that look like that, then I should stand a chance of becoming successful myself with a little practise".
